The town of Hinton is
situated 290 km west of the city of Edmonton and 80 km east of the town of
Jasper along Highway 16 also called Yellowhead Trail, after a native guide
which the first French settlers nicknamed “Tęte Jaune”.
From the south the Bighorn Highway 40 leads through Kananaskis Country,
passes east of Canmore, crosses David Thompson Highway 11 by Nordegg to
Hinton. The scenic Route to the Alaska Highway continues from here to the
North through Grande Cache and Grande Prairie.
Hinton can also be
reached:
1. by
bus: regular service from Greyhound bus lines
2. by train: regular
service east and west from VIA Rail
3. by air: scheduled and
chartered air service from Calgary and Grande Prairie to the Hinton/Jasper
Airport.
